Level 3 certificate in emergency response ambulance driving

Overview

The Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance driving course is the nationally recognised training programme which allows drivers to drive an ambulance vehicle under blue light emergency conditions. The programme focuses on the advanced driving techniques required to operate an ambulance safely whilst on an emergency call and ensuring patient comfort. It will enable the candidate to identify the exemptions they are able to claim under the Road Traffic Act and highlights their responsibilities to other road users.

This qualification has been specific developed to meet the core requirements of NHS Ambulance Trusts for learners working or intending to work as emergency ambulance clinical practitioners and emergency care support staff with extensive input from NHS Ambulance Service Trust Employers.

197 hours (4 weeks)


Prerequisites

  • 18+
  • C1 entitlement on driving license
  • Currently working for or have a job offer from the NHS or a CQC registered ambulance service


Mandatory Units

  1. Prepare, Drive and Manoeuvre Ambulance Vehicles - 7 credits
  2. Drive Emergency Ambulance Vehicles - 16 credits
